Versatile Blogger Award ~ A call to write

From Michelle's Dogkisses's Blog, Thank You!

Thank you my fellow bloggers, Lynda R. CookSue Dreamwalker from Dreamwalker’s Sanctuary and Paul Handover at Learning from Dogs, for nominating Dogkisses’s blog for the Versatile Blogger Award.

An Update on 12/29/11:  My genuine thanks goes to Deb, from Dorky Deb’s Blog, for also having nominated me for this blog.

I love awards!  I haven’t been the most attentive blogger over the past six months, so I really appreciate that folks remembered my blog.  With that said, I felt a call to write this post.  Thanks for the inspiration!

Now.  The Rules as listed on the recently created VBA blog.

  • Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  •  Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  •  Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.
  •  Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
  •  Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

The blogs I am nominating for The Versatile Blogging Award are as follows:

Ash, from her blog, Wolfdreams (http://wolfdreams.wordpress.com/)  A true mountain woman, terrific writer and, strong survivor!

John Hayden at Dispatches from Consternation (http://lifeaftersixty.wordpress.com/)  John is a former newsman, blogging about politics, living simple and frugality.  I love his blog!

Leslie Sigal Javorek from IconDoIt  (http://icondoit.wordpress.com/)  If you’ve ever visited my blog before, then you may know that I absolutely love Leslie’s icons.  Much more than her awesome icons and art, Leslie is a survivor, determined not until she is ready and, a talented writer.  Go see!

Planet Jan (http://planetjan.wordpress.com/)   A blog by a witty and predictably funny teacher.

Barbara from My life, His Addiction (http://parentofheroinaddict.blogspot.com/)  A strong woman and Mother writing about the experience of her son’s addiction to heroin.  Moving and real.

Holistic Recovery from Schizophrenia by Rossa Forbes (http://holisticschizophrenia.blogspot.com/)  This blog speaks for itself, but is very well written and resourceful.

Dorky Deb who is not dorky at all, but a true blogger with 100% of heart and soul! (I’m pretty sure Deb has received this award, which exempts her from another round of acceptance, but wanted to nominate her anyway, because I enjoy her blog and photography).

Pamela Spiro Wagner from Wagblog, (http://wagblog.wordpress.com/)  Pam is an author, artist and survivor.  She writes an amazing blog about life with schizophrenia/bipolar illness.  Take a tour “through Vision Therapy and narcolepsy, Global Warming and just about anything else that interests me as well!”

Rosemary from Seeking Equilibrium (http://rosemaryl.blogspot.com/)  A professional well researched and written blog about living with pain from fibromyalgia.  A long-standing favorite blog of mine!

Dominique at 4Walls and AView  An Airforce Vet, author and “prolific blogger” writing about living with ME and FMS.  Dominique has a strong spirit and clear writing voice.  Her blog inspires me for several reasons, but you’ll have to visit to see why.

Amanda McMillen at (Insert Something Witty) (http://mcmillenwrites.wordpress.com/)  I recently discovered this blog via a comment.  In her words, “Schizophrenic, writer, mother, and sometimes inspired to greatness,” I look forward to reading more of Amanda’s posts.

Forgive me for only nominating 11 bloggers for this award, but I promise, the ones I chose are interesting and definitely worth your time to visit.

More Rules ;)…  I’m required to tell you seven things about myself.

1.  I love fine chocolate.

2.  I’m a country girl in my heart.

3.  Clogging was a required class for fifth graders where I went to middle school.

4.  I take on the burdens of the world, but I don’t like being blamed for what is either not my  fault or out of my control.

5.  I love blogging and when I can’t, it makes me a little sad.

6.  If I am ever a bride again, I want a wedding dress very much like this one! (The bride in red. Open photo to view larger image and see how pretty!)

7.  I love dogs as much as I do people.

In Gratitude, with wishes that everyone is blessed with love, peace and joy!

Michelle, keeper of Dogkisses’s blog.

  1. Better late than never. Thanks so for mentioning my blog. As a chocolate lover, I appreciated receiving said honor from you. I’m afraid I haven’t been too inclined to reveal so much about myself, as my readers seem to be most interested in reading about Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I suppose that could be one thing about me – that I DON’T have it! I’ve never forwarded a chain letter in my life and fear forwarding awards because people might feel obligated. (That’s probably why I don’t have any awards.) Did I mention that I had a deep fear about selling Girl Scout cookies. My mother would call the neighbor ahead of time. She always bought two boxes. My mother probably paid her to do this.

I will share one thing with you and only you (and your readers who seem to all be nice people!). When I was a child, I liked to sneak into my parents closet to look on the top shelf where they hid the adult paperbacks. Really hard core stuff like “Peyton Place!” On the back cover, there was a picture of author Grace Metalious typing. She had a plaid shirt on the back of her chair. To me that symbolized being a writer. To this day, I usually sit with a red flannel plaid shirt draped over the back of my chair when I’m writing on my computer. 🙂 Many hugs and dog kisses.

    • Hi Jan! From one chocolate lover to another, You’re welcome 🙂 I sort of figured you weren’t too hip on uhh, “chain letters” but! –this is better than a chain letter Always Jan 🙂 It is The VBA and you are in very good company! But! (Please see some humor here okay) I totally understand your view and if you were into accepting awards, you’d likely be very busy with them. And you know, about NPD, what in the world? My stats beg me to write about the subject. Haven’t written about it in two years and still, a 2yr old post is my top read post! I may have to let dog kisses go to the narcissists!

And about that plaid shirt. I have one draped over the back of my chair too. Thanks for sharing about YOU. My parents were Baptists, so they definitely didn’t have any good reads. My grandma openly read “True Story” and OMG, I can still remember a story about a single woman and a man who delivered donuts. I thought for the longest time that as soon as I got my own place, I’d order me some donuts. Alas. I learned that that part of the story was probably fiction.

Thanks for taking the time to write me. I always love your visits to my blog! I hope the New Year is being very good to you and yours. Hugs and dog kisses to you too.

  2. As I had responded on my own Blog on 12-25-2011 (to your nominating my blog for the Versatile Blogger Award) “Oh, My! I am overwhelmed and blushing and ever so honored!” I won’t repeat the rest of my response here as it embarrassingly reveals my failure to follow up as quickly as I had hoped. (oops! I guess that statement lets the cat out of the bag!) – In any case, given the quality of writing on your own blog and your ability to share such deeply felt/experienced life challenges and your strength of resolve in facing them, I am honored to be nominated by you. You are an inspiration, my friend, and I love you for it.

  7. Hi Michelle,

First of all I do thank you and I will do so publicly on my Wagblog, but I have never had any award before and do not know if I am supposed to put that badge icon my front page, and if so, how do I do it? In any event, I will write something very soon, and put the info in a post even if I cannot figure out how to display the badge.

Thanks so very much again. I am tickled pink!

BY the way, do you know that I absolutely love clogging and was once very good at it? It was one of my all-time favorite forms of dance and I took to it like a duck to a lazy lake and pondweed!

Love, peace and joy, and best wishes for the coming new year,

    Pam Wagner of Wagblog

    • Dear Pam,

I’m glad you like the award! You definitely deserve it! There is a link to the Versatile Blogger Award in my post. (See VBA link). Or, you can just right click on the badge and copy link location, then put it in a post to accept it and nominate other bloggers. I like awards, so I will put mine in my sidebar using the image widget.

I’m surprised you learned clogging up north! How cool! I too took to it, and not only because there were so many cute cloggers in town. We had bluegrass festivals all the time, and the best cloggers would dance on stage. It was the most fun ever! Lots of “corn liquor” went around too, but I was too young for that, thank goodness!

Thanks for your reply and I hope you enjoy the process of accepting the VBA. Please let me know if I can assist you with it okay.

With love, and many, many good wishes for you in the New Year!
      Michelle.
